8 Fall Craft Ideas and Tutorials to Make You Smile

These are the latest, CUTEST craft ideas I could find for this year! I did another post like this a few years ago and it was really popular, so thought I’d do it again. After all, I’m obsessed with cuteness, crafts and FALL!

Fall is such a great time to get your house prepped for all the Holiday gatherings coming up. I find myself checking off lots of things on my to do list during September. Maybe it’s because it’s a new school year, or because football started? Plus Fall colors are just beautiful and they’re my favorite!

I tried hard to find craft ideas that were more unique than what you see on a basic Google search. So this list might have some stuff you won’t find in any others! I hope you’ll browse all the way to the bottom and see them all.

Check out these 8 fun crafts that you could do by yourself, with friends, Church groups or your kiddos!

1- Chunky Yarn Pumpkins

Aren’t these just adorable? Seem not too difficult or time consuming, but they have a big payoff in how cute and perennial they’ll be!

Created by Debbie Chapman of the blog One Little Project- there’s even a YouTube video tutorial too.

I’ll definitely be making a few of these for some friends and to use as hostess gifts!

2- Painted Pine Cone Garland

This idea comes from Anam’s blog, DIY and Delicious. Her post actually contains several other ideas as well, but this one stuck out to me as it has more of a boho aesthetic, which I’m currently into.

Seems pretty straightforward too- just grab ya some pinecones from outside or from a craft store, and some paint and get to work! Of course you could add glitter and all kinds of stuff to them as well, and hang them up on your mantle, across a window, above a door, whatever.

I also had the idea that you could get or make some little tags to tie onto the top of each pinecone with a phrase or something you’re thankful for! Huh?? Cute right??

3- Mini Stuffed Maple Leaves

Ok, granted this idea comes from Amazon, but I am not suggesting you buy these (Unless you really want to! And side note, I do not get any commission from Amazon if you do purchase.), but rather, make some yourself!

They appear to be made of felt and roughly cut and sewn together. All you’d have to do is get some felt in fall colors, make a simple maple leaf pattern and then -cut -stuff -sew! I’d bet you could also glue them together potentially too?

I’m make them for a super cute bowl filler or tiered tray filler. Looks like you could also make another kind of garland, or I’ve heard people have “trees” now for every season, so they could be your Fall Tree ornaments too.

4- Frame of Gratitude & 5- Be Thankful Banner

Oh gosh, I just LOVE these ideas so much! The first one, the frame, is really a craft that the whole family, or all your friends could get in on. But of course you could most likely fill in all the leaves with all the things you’re thankful for all on your own too.

Honestly I think any kind or size of empty frame would work, and grab some twine and tape, clothespins and colored construction paper to complete the leaves. This unique creation doesn’t look like it would even take that long to make (Which I’m all about, speedy cuteness!). Cut out all shapes and colors of leaves on the paper and make it a month long gratitude fest, where you add some leaves every day, and/or have everyone who’s at Thanksgiving dinner make one too!

The banner across the mantle (and letters sitting on it) looks to be wooden letters that were painted or purchased white, which you could get at almost any craft supply store, along with some burlap fabric and more twine to thread the fabric through. Hot glue the wooden letters to the burlap after cutting out the shape and size you prefer cut some holes in the top for the twine and voila!

Both of these craft ideas came from Frame Destination.

6- Wooden & Leather Signage

I absolutely love this one and plan on making this myself for sure! Found on Making Manzanita, this DIY craft includes possibly using reclaimed or vintage materials to upcycle, making it “green” as well.

Their tutorial is very well put together and looks easy to follow along, and they even give you ideas about where you could get the materials for free!

7- Burlap Wrapped Fall Wreath

Now, yes, it’s true that wreaths are kinda common DIY decor, but this Burlap Wrapped Wreath has the best instructions and could be tailored to ANY style, color, or look you like- to make it super unique and custom!

Any kind or colors of flowers and greenery could go into this type of design. I love the straw wreath base that makes it so easy to stick in all your stems, one of the biggest problems I have with my boxwood wreath.

8- Wreath Sashes

Okay, so these are MY creations, you caught me! But really, these Wreath Sashes are just so simple to use and you can add your own embroidery, iron on’s, and etc. to personalize them if you want! Plus they’d look super cute on the burlap wreath that you just made too. *wink*

I made myself this red one last year and was so pleased after I added our last name Initial. Truth though, it did take me quite a while to do this detailed of hand embroidery. But, I think I’m going to add some holly leaves and berries to the other tail this year.

I have many different fabric color and patterns to choose from, or you could make your own!
